When you first meet him, Joseph Saddington may seem like a typical middle school teen. What you might not realize until later is that he’s also one of the youngest Pro Spec Miata drivers in the world — regularly racing on tracks at speeds of 110–120 mph.

“Joseph showed an interest in cars at a very early age,” said his mom, Susan. “He began racing karts at six years old and earned his professional racing license [last year] when he was 12.”

Family life and younger years

Joseph’s parents, Susan and Peter, married in 2009 and decided to put down roots in Norcross, eventually building a home where they would raise Joseph and his older sister Micah.
