Emergent Abilities
New capabilities that appear in a model as it scales, often unpredictably, and are not present in smaller models of the same family. These abilities aren't explicitly trained for; they 'emerge' from increased model size and training data. It's like a child suddenly being able to solve complex puzzles they couldn't before, simply by growing older and smarter, not through explicit training for that specific puzzle.
