Whenever I see videos like this, it makes me think two things immediately:
This individual is living in a false reality, reacting, instead of creating
This reveals a lot about the person’s job functions and personal motivators
Becoming a Meat API
Let’s start with the reasons why people get ‘replaced by ai.’
The job is mostly routines of click here, do this, do that, click here, click there, add this, change that, send out.
The job function is knowable, repeatable, and document-able.
The process is replicate-able, scalable (without you), and direct-able.
Costs to automate repeatable functions outweigh human-interaction-value within role.
The job itself does not require discovery, growth, or extensibility.
The long term human-costs of employee exceed an agentic replacement.
Funny how all of these are the (exact) things I need to have agents automate people’s lives better!
The Human’s Responsibility
Just because your knowledge-worker-job is completely knowable, repeatable, and replace-able, doesn’t mean we can blame technology. The human (often):
Wasn’t intentional about personal growth within the company
Didn’t assert themselves when opportunities to grow presented themselves
Did not take on expanded responsibilities or duties
Did not expand their value beyond core functional role to others
Did not grow relational equity with peers where it mattered
Did the basic functional minimum to get the job done
Created expectations and perceptions about being slow-to-change
Resisted change and new models to improve the business
Became over time completely forgettable as a cog in the wheel
Did not take personal responsibility for their lives and career…
But… you remember reading these decades ago in that self-help book you wasted $17.95 on at Barnes and Noble. Technology cannot be to blame. We, I, you, us… none of us can stop the insatiable appetite for growth and expansion of the human conscious. We humans build as a function of being, and technology is the manifestation of imagination onto this flat plane. Every technological evolution required the masses, who not being directly involved in the creation of such technologies, to catch up.
Change or die.
AI + _______(FILL IN BLANK)
I had lunch with a colleague of mine and we discussed the future of work will simply be: (AI + Whatever you’re doing) = Do the thing better.
There is a push/pull I have here in that I truly believe this to be true… for the assertive growth-minded individual.
But for those never willing to take control of their own destiny, AI will be used (to) control them… better.
I enjoy helping unlock humans with ai.
Maybe it’s just my way of helping free minds from the matrix.
