Reading the Atlas like an editor

  • Start with the treemap, not the KPIs. Green blocks shrinking and amber blocks growing is your earliest decay signal — it moves weeks before sessions do.
  • The dual trend is a divergence test. When GSC clicks (blue) flatten while GA4 sessions (orange) climb, your problem is rankings, not the site — invest in content, not UX.
  • Triage decay by traffic-at-risk, not position drop. A page falling #2→#5 on a 12K/mo query outranks a page falling #18→#40 on a dead one. The HIGH-priority cards are sorted that way.
  • Let the AI do the classification. Intent tags, content-gap briefs, and the snippet coach turn a 1,840-URL property into a ranked to-do list — read them as a publishing queue.
  • Mind cannibalization before you publish. Two of your URLs competing for one query splits authority; consolidate before generating a new brief on the same intent.
  • For your own org: which 5 pages earn the most revenue, and when were they last meaningfully updated? Decay almost always hides in your best performers.
